Spring 2023 Class of ’55 Ethics Writing Contest Winners

The department held its annual writing contest and all entries were judged by three philosophy faculty looking for the BEST ARGUMENT in defense of the most INTERESTING ETHICAL VIEW.
The winners of the $750 cash prize are:
Raymond Peters for "Punishing Police Properly"
and
Will Quintana for "Why Captivity is Necessary and Advantageous to Protection of Endangered Species and Conservation of the World"
Congratulations on two outstanding essays!

(Open to all University of Delaware Undergraduates)
Topic: An opinion piece defending a view on any ethical issue.
Two winners receive $750 each!
Deadline: Tuesday, April 11, 2023
One entry per student
Entries should be a maximum of 1200 words
Email entries in PDF format
Do not include identifying information in the PDF file
Entries will be judged by Philosophy faculty looking for the BEST ARGUMENT in defense of the most interesting ethical view
Winners announced Wednesday, May 3, 2023
